15m Led Strip in 1 Universe (DMX/ArtNet)

Hi guys

I have a problem. Hope you can help me.

The guy who operated with madrix has gone and take with him the artnet receiver and the software pc/key.

We have 3 lines of led strips with 30m (each line 6x 5m with 160leds) previous installed with the dmx decoder.

I know he worked in this scheme. Please see picture.

And with this artnet:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/321060993223

My doubt its:

How can he control 480px/1440ch (15m) per universe?

If I am right 1px needs 3channels of dmx to control. To control 15m of led strip we will need 480px 1440ch dmx. So it wont "fit" in one universe.

Can I group 3led's successively? In this way 15m will have 480ch.

Please let me know how to figure out this. We have a short time to put this working and we will need to buy the software and the artnet controller.

Thanks in advance.

Lucas

Hello Fernandes,
Welcome to the MADRIX forum.
.
When you want to control 480 pixels per string you will need 3 DMX universe to control all pixels individually. In MADRIX it is no problem to create a line of pixel larger than one DMX universe (170 pixels). On the real installation it means you need to go from the first port of the Art-Net node to pixel stripe 1., from the second port of the Art-Net node to pixel stripe 2 and from the third port of the Art-Net node to pixel stripe 3.
When you want to control three lines with 3 univeres on each line you will need a licens in MADRIX which is able to control 9 DMX universes. In that case you have to use the MADRIX KEY basic. With the KEY basic you have the possibility to control up to 16 DMX universes.
To group successive 3 LEDs of the string depends a bit on your used fixture. If it has a mode where you can enable the groupe mode it is no problem for MADRIX. But if it has not such a mode you can not group it in MADRIX to save channels.
If you can tell use which kind (manufacturer and product) of LED stripes you want to control we can give you a recommendation which hardware you should use.

How can I create more than 170px in one universe? (170px=510ch)

Like a said the guy worked with 480px in one universe (see picture http://postimg.org/image/kae7vjuo1/)

6 Universes in total = 2880px

We want to use the same system but dont know how.

For now I think we will need one madrix key basic with EUROLITE Artnet-DMX Node 8. Will it work 100%?

I don't know which type is the led strip...

Hello Fernandes,
.
It is not possible to add more than 170 pixels in one DMX Universe. 170 RGB pixels means you will need 510 DMX channels (3 x 170). One DMX Universe consists of 512 DMX channels.
If you have more than 170 pixels in one LED stripe it is not a DMX stripe. In that case it is a LED stripe which will be controlled with a SPI protocol and you will need a Art-Net to SPI controller like the MADRIX NEBULA:
http://www.madrix.com/en/home/products/nebula.html
In case of a SPI controller you will patch the first 170 pixels to DMX universe 1, the second 170 pixels to universe 2 and so on. The controller will put the data of the universes together for the stripe.
Regarding your question about the EUROLITE Artnet-DMX Node 8. This Art-Net node will work with MADRIX without faults if the node is working according to the Art-Net standart.

Thanks for the reply.

So how can he control 480pixeis in one universe?

Like a said in the previous installation one universe was controlling 480px with the chinese artnet and the dmx decoder after.

We have 3 lines of 960pixeis strips = 960 x 3 = 2880pixeis
Each line have 6x 5m strips with 160pixels.

To control this amount of pixeis I will need 8640 dmx channels = 17 universes?

Can you help figure out which type of led strip it is?

Hello Fernandes,
.
There is no way to add 480 RGB pixels in one DMX universe. Because 480 RGB pixel are 1440 DMX channels. That's are 3 DMX universes.
If there are 480 RGB pixels on one stripe I think you have installed a SPI pixel stripe and you will need an Art-Net to SPI controller like the MADRIX NEBULA.
You are right, to control 8640 you will need 17 DMX universes.
Far away it is really hard to say which kind of LED stripes you will have installed. Can you please tell us in which country you are living. Maybe we find a MADRIX partner in your country which have a look to your installation on site.

Im from Portugal.

If I send you a picture of the led strip can you tell me which kind is it?

Hello Fernandes,
.
With the help of the new created image we understand how the stripes are connected.
If the stripes are connected like your posted image you will need 3 x MADRIX NEBULA (http://www.madrix.com/en/home/products/nebula.html) and 1 x MADRIX KEY professional.
.
To connect your stripes you have to use Port 1 of the NEBULA to connect the stripes of the first 15m (3 x 5m stripes) and Port 2 to connect the second 15m stripes of each line. In the following link you will find the manual of the NEBULA which includes connection diagrams: http://help.madrix.com/qsg/MADRIX-NEBUL ... _Guide.pdf
.
When the stripes are connected like in your posted image you will have installed a SPI stripe. There are different SPI LED chips on the market and you have to setup the correct LED chip for the output of the NEBULA like explained in chapter 3 (page 14) of the manual.
.
In the MADRIX software you easily have to patch with 960 pixel per line.
