sACN and ETC NET3 Node

I'm a little confused on setting up sACN.
I got it working but it seems counter intuitive.

I have a single,
ETC NET3 Four Port Gateway Output device.

In Options I had selected 1 for "Count of ACN Devices Used"

But it seemed that in Device Manager it wanted a single universe per sACN device.

So I went back to Options and set it for 4.
Then in Device Manager I set the four devices to 1:1

First one had Univ 1 set just under the Output/Input selection,
and Univ 1 set in it's Configuration under ACN Universes.

Same for Univ 2-4

Originally I tried setting 4 for ACN Universes as that seemed more intuitive to me.
It's also possible I had it working this way but didn't realize it due to some CAT cabling.

Which is correct or preferred?
1 ACN Device, or 4?

Thanks,
Cat

Hi Cat,

Thank you very much for your feedback!

The way to go is to use 4 devices in MADRIX.

The functionality in MADRIX regarding such a communication protocol will be always be something that takes the protocol specifications and "translates" them into a useable feature in MADRIX.

As such, the implementation is probably not going to change, but I can see how we can improve the user guide in this regard. We will make sure that we explain things there in a much clearer way. Your feedback is highly appreciated!

Regarding sACN, the ACN Universe assignment coincides with the IP address of the device. sACN is broadcasted into the network. So, each device is assigned to one universe.

Thank you!
