Nebulae / sync
Nebulae / sync
I´m in the planning stage of a mid size installation and would require multiple Nebulae (latin, isn´t it). Depending on final sizing, it will be somewhere between 4 and 6.
Lightly concerned about synchronisation, as this will be an LED ceiling, so strobe effects and tight on-beat flashing are important.
Any things to look out for?
- artnet vs sACN?
- uni/multi/broadcast?
Currently testing on one Nebula with artnet and unicast - and this works flawlessly.

Re: Nebulae / sync
Hello acdnrg,
MADRIX as well the NEBULAs support to send respectively receive the data via Art-Net and sACN.
In case of Art-Net all MADRIX products are working according to the Art-Net 4 standard. That means the sync commands will be interpreted to ensure a synced output at the interfaces.
Furthermore it is recommended to use Unicast to send the Art-Net data from MADRIX to the NEBULA. With the help of Unicast the network traffic will be decreased. Of course in your special project with 4 to 6 NEBULAs broadcast would also work and not overflow the network.
In case of sACN all MADRIX products supports the standard sACN/E1.31 at the moment. In sACN/E1.31 is no sync command provided. But the data distribution is a bit different form Art-Net and you should also not run in sync trouble if you are using sACN for our project with 4 to 6 NEBULAs.
If you will use sACN in this project, you can work in multicast mode. But please make sure the NEBULA universe assignment is correct.
