Loading setups and patches with macro

Post by hugh123 »

I would like to be able to change patch sizes on the fly. Is it possible to load a preconfigured patch using macros? Different effects work differently with different sized and shaped patches. I would like to create a series of patches (using the same fixture type), and load/unload them as I need them. The cue list allows you to change thke parameters of effects, but the patch appears to be loaded only once with the setup file.

Is it possible yet to change setup file and patches using macros?

Thanks.

No it is not possible to change setup or patch by macro!
.
But why you like to change the patch? I think the used fixtures in your application will not change within one show, isn´t it?
.
So maybe what you are looking for is the map and tile option, which is available for each layer in the map dialog. With the map and tile options you can decide which size is used for the current effect/layer.
And this settings you can modify by macro.

I am using madrix to wirelessly control leds on students in a
show. This means my pixels move to different locations on
the field, which I can address by using different patches. This
actually works very well, but I can't manually load a new patch fast
enough with the pulldown menus, so I'd like to do it with a script
that is part of the effect that I have in each storage place. So
imagine that i have 15 effects stored in storage places, but I need a
different patch for each one. The show will be cue based since it is
live.

Does anyone know of a way to load a new patch with the scripting language or another way to approach this problem? My fallback plan is to use AutoIt to send keyboard strokes to madrix, but this is ugly.

Ok i understand your request,

but unfortunately it is not possible currently to load a patch by macro.
We will check if it is possible for a future release but i can not promise if and when this will be done.

Hello!

We have just released MADRIX 2.14b. The new version includes a new Macro/Script function for the Main Output Macro called ImportPatch(). This should do what you were wishing for.

For example, you can call Storage Places and load then patches automatically.

Thanks!
