controling facade lighting

controling facade lighting
I'm helping out with a facade lighting, that will run different shows each evening turned on and off by astronomical timer. We have one facade with videos, DVI and one with led battens DMX. Can I work with several cuelists / time code and external timer somehow? And are there recommendations for timers?
Re: controling facade lighting
Hello Lillan.
Welcome to the Forum.
.
In MADRIX, there is no possibility to work with several cue lists. But you have the possibility to map the created effects to the right fixtures.
For example the first layer use an effect which is displayed at the DVI fixtures and the second layer use an effect which is displayed at the DMX fixtures.
.
You can control the Cuelist of MADRIX via Time Code. There you can use the "System Time" or an "External" Time Code like MIDI Time Code or Art-Net Time Code. If you want to use MIDI Time Code or Art-Net Time Code, here you can read more about the settings to use it in MADRIX:

.
If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us again!
Thank you.

Re: controling facade lighting
Thanks for your answer! I try rephrasing the questions a bit, to be more specific: Do you have any experience of other software collaborating with Madrix to make running several cues and setting astronomical time for cues/ shows possible? software like Cromatec? This may be a common wish when using Madrix for facade lighting, when you might want a show for Christmas, New Year etc. Do you know of any reference project using Madrix in this way?
A later comment: We use Madrix 2 with DVI for video facade and Madrix 3 for dmx LED batten facade. I can see that Nicolaudi Sunlite Stick is compatible with Madrix 2 but not for Madrix 3. Please comment on this.

Re: controling facade lighting
Hey Lillan.
We have some experience to control MADRIX via MIDI Time Code with audio editing programs like "Magix Samplitude". But you know, you can use every software which can send Time Code via MIDI or Art-Net to synchronize MADRIX.
You can also use other ligthing software/consoles (like Chromateq) collaborating with MADRIX because of you can remote control MADRIX via DMX or Art-Net. For example if Chromateq offers the possibility to start scenes on astronomical time, so it can send a DMX command to MADRIX which starts the Cuelist, for example.
An other possibility is you can use the MADRIX PLEXUS: http://www.madrix.com/en/home/products/plexus.html.
The PLEXUS is a live or stand-alone DMX interface and provides the possibility to play a scene after or at the sunset and play an other scene at the sunrise or any other time, for example. With these scenes it is possible to control MADRIX remotely too.
.
Have a look to the following links for some christmas lighting projects which are realized with MADRIX.

The remote control of MADRIX 3 is compatible with every DMX lighting software / console. It depends on the manufacturer of the DMX software / console if they have create the fixture profile of MADRIX 3. If you want to use the Sunlite Stick maybe it is necessary to generate a fixture profile of MADRIX 3.
The following links shows you the DMX-IN protocols of MADRIX 3:

Re: controling facade lighting
Again thanks, thanks, thanks! for detailed reply, and thanks for patience! I'm learning!
Still your answer mostly advices on how to control Artnet/DMX, how do I apply that knowledge to the facade using Madrix 2 and DVI?

Re: controling facade lighting
Hey Lillan.
You are welcome!
.
The most explanations at the last post are about how you can control MADRIX remotely.
.
You can also control MADRIX 2 remotely via DMX or Art-Net and you can synchronize MADRIX 2 via Time Code.
.
If you want to use MADRIX 2 with DVI output, you have to patch DVI fixtures like described in the following link:
http://help.madrix.com/m2/html/madrix/i ... rator.html
Please change the Protocol to DVI. If the fixture you will install is not in the list you can also choose "!generic DVI 1x1 RGB" and now change the count for X and Y according to the DVI resoltion of the used fixture.
.
If the "Patch" is complicated you should use the "Patch Window" in MADRIX like described in the following link:
http://help.madrix.com/m2/html/madrix/i ... patch.html
.
After patching the fixtures go to "Previews > Preview DVI 1" and now you have the opportunity to choose several external window settings: "DVI", "Window", "Fullscreen".
Please have a look to the following links for a detailed overview about these settings:
http://help.madrix.com/m2/html/madrix/i ... rless.html
http://help.madrix.com/m2/html/madrix/i ... frame.html
http://help.madrix.com/m2/html/madrix/i ... creen.html
It depends on the used DVI fixtures controller respectively the capture software of the controller which DVI setting is the right one.
.
