Madrix Neo and SK6812 Pixel Tape
Hi All,
Firstly, please excuse my ignorance on this but I am just starting to get involved in pixel tape.
I have a reel of SK6812 (WS2812b) pixel tape with +V, GND and DATA pins and I also have a Madrix Neo with a single universe key.
I'd like to use the Madrix Neo to operate the tape. My questions are:
- Can this be done? I've seen demos so I'm sure it can.
- Do I need to use a decoder of some sort and if so, which type? I had originally thought DMX to SPI but SPI is a two wire interface and the tape I have is 1 wire data line.
- If I don't need a decoder how should it be wired?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
James

Hello BeOneOptica,
Welcome to the MADRIX forum.
The SK6812 is not a DMX based protocol. It is a SPI protocol. SPI protocols are not natively controlable with NEO. If you want to use the MADRIX NEO you will need an additinal DMX to SPI converter.
Or you are using a SPI controller like the MADRIX NEBULA:
