what is the maximum resolution that madrix is capable of outputting?

This realy depends on your setup, i mean which kind of MADRIX effects you use, and of course it depends on your hardware (fast CPU and a lot of RAM are necessary).

Therefor it is not possible to tell you a absolute maximum resolution.
Using only video and effects which need not so much CPU power i think 800x600 with a fast cpu is possible. Some clients told us about bigger resolutions they use.

Effects which need a lot of cpu power are for example SCE Metaballs (with many shapes) or the SCE Shapes (Circle Explode with many shapes).
Also the SCE Explosion or the SCE Radial could be expensive.

Simple effects like the SCE Color Scroll, SCE Color Ramp and so on need not so much CPU power.
